Kiara Scott, the winemaker at Brookdale Estate, is the youngest female winemaker in all of South Africa. Her Mason Road Syrah, which was grown organically and dry-farmed in the Paarl appellation, is an homage to the Northern Rhone in France, with its savory notes of roasted lamb and fynbos, which is the South African version of garrigue, the native shrubs that grow amongst the vineyards. This was fermented with wild yeasts, aged in neutral barrel, and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
