Bodegas Teodoro Ruiz Monge is a fourth generation producer in Rioja who grows sustainably using old school traditions. Their Monge-Ruiz bottling is comprised of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha and 5% Viura (a white grape) made using carbonic maceration, which means whole, uncrushed grape clusters were fermented with carbon dioxide in a sealed stainless steel tank. In this method, the grapes actually ferment from the inside out, within each berry until they burst naturally, resulting in a juicy, floral wine with fragrant, high-toned blackberry and blueberry fruit.
