Viña Progreso Overground Tannat $28.75
Sassy and vibrant aren't typical descriptions you'll see for the wines of Uruguay. This fabulous find definitely defies the stereotype, opening with high-toned red currant, raspberry and red plum fruit and showing a whole new side of Tannat, which is usually characterized as a tannic beast of a grape. Grown sustainably in Rio de La Plata which is located in the appellation of Canelones, this bottling is fresh and delicate in style, with excellent intensity and purity of fruit.
