Indigenous to the northern Italian region of Sudtirol-Alto Adige, Lagrein is a grape variety perfectly suited to Cabernet drinkers, yielding elegant wines with excellent structure and age-worthiness. This fabulous example from the producer Gojer is zesty and fresh, showing  silky tannins, incredible lilac aromas on the nose, and densely-packed blackberry fruit on the palate. The Gojer family's Glogglhof estate, where this wine was grown, dates back to the 14th century.

Description:

This beautifully structured blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Marselan was grown organically in the Spanish region of Penedes, historically known for its sparkling Cavas. Dusty and earthy, with aromatic notes of sweet aged balsamic and leather, this very impressive wine shows a dense, deeply concentrated palate full of black mission fig, dried cherry, cassis and cocoa flavors. This wine was aged in French oak for 12 months.
