This juicy, savory, unusual blend of Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Carignan, Pinot Noir, Petite Sirah and Viognier was made by winemaker Dustin Durfee in California's Sonoma Coast and was farmed sustainably with minimal intervention. At once "Old World" in style but with California ripeness, this eclectic bottling delivers stewed blackberry, black cherry and red plum flavors along with warming spice notes of clove, star anise and cardamom. Pleiades, founded by the late Sean Thackrey, is one of California's most idiosyncratic producers, pushing convention aside in favor of exotic, intriguing blends that definitely have a cerebral appeal.
